Upcoming Comics Spotlight: Sci-Fi

Time for a quick checkup on some upcoming sci-fi books!

You'll see that I'll try to include a little order code with most items (ex:JUL200019). Show some love to your retailer and use those codes when you can, it saves a lot of time on the data entry end of things.

DEEP BEYOND #1

(W) Mirka Andolfo, David Goy (A/CA) Andrea Broccardo

In an underpopulated future Earth, devastated by the dire consequences of the millennium bug, the survival of mankind - and, maybe, of the planet itself - is handled by a small number of people. Talented scientists who, despite the adverse situation and the stupid feuds that continue to divide the small number of people still alive, try to understand and study what is hidden in the depths of the abyss. Something mysterious and dangerous, which could eventually cause an even worse and more destructive catastrophe!

The 100 meets LOW, with a hint of Death Stranding in the brand-new sci-fi thriller series from acclaimed creator MIRKA ANDOLFO (UNNATURAL, MERCY), teaming up with writer DAVID GOY and rising-star artist ANDREA BROCCARDO (Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, Empyre: X-Men) and colorist BARBARA NOSENZO (The Ballad of Halo Jones).

DEC200032

Why this caught my eye:

Underwater sci-fi/horror is definitely my jam and Mirka Andolfo projects are always worth checking out, plus Broccardo's artwork looks like a good clean match for the project as well.

BLADE RUNNER ORIGINS #1

(W) K. Perkins, Mike Johnson, Mellow Brown (A) Fernando Dagnino (CA) Artgerm

Enter the world of Blade Runner: 2009 and Discover the untold origins of the Blade Runners!

A Tyrell Corporation scientist is DEAD - the victim of an apparent suicide. But when LAPD Detective Cal is called in to investigate, he uncovers secret documents revealing a new kind of replicant and a conspiracy that could change the world.

FEATURES AN ALL-STAR CREATIVE TEAM with Titan's bestselling Blade Runner 2019 co-writer MIKE JOHNSON plus K. PERKINS (Supergirl) and MELLOW BROWN (American Gods).

DEC201687

Why this caught my eye:

As I've said before, it's just a bit of a reflex action from my ordering days to highlight a new Blade Runner project. It's also a reflex to point out the Peach Momoko variant.

WE ONLY FIND THEM WHEN THEY ARE DEAD TP VOL 01

* Captain Malik and the crew of the spaceship the Vihaan II are in search of the only resources that matter - and can only be found by harvesting the giant corpses of alien gods that are found on the edge of human space.

* But Malik's obsession with finding a living god will push his crew into the darkest reaches of space, bringing them face to face with a threat unlike anything they ever imagined, unless the rogue agent on their trail can stop them first...

* Collects We Only Find Them When They're Dead #1-5.

DEC201076

Why this caught my eye:

It's a pretty great sci-fi concept by one of my favorite writers, so definitely worth a peek considering the great $9.99 price tag.

Why this caught my eye:

The PS Artbooks are generally a major pain to try and find after their initial release, so it's worth spotlighting this especially with all the Kubert, Infantino, and Wood material.

TRANSFORMERS BEAST WARS #1

(W) Erik Burnham (A/CA) Josh Burcham

Celebrating 25 years of Beast Wars! In the future, the planet Cybertron belongs to the scientific-minded Maximals and the action-oriented Predacons! When a crew of Predacons, led by the successor to the Megatron name, steal a golden disk and a ship capable of traveling through time, it's up to Optimus Primal and his Maximal crew - Rattrap, Rhinox, Cheetor, and new character Nyx - to catch them!

A brand-new Beast era begins in an oversized first issue by Erik Burnham (Ghostbusters, Transformers/Ghostbusters) and Josh Burcham (Transformers, Transformers Galaxies), yesssss!

DEC200412

Why this caught my eye:

If you don't find a base level of excitement solely on imagining the theme song everytime Beast Wars is mentioned, then this probably isn't for you. But the existence of this means there's a chance for Megatron to be reunited with his rubber ducky, and that alone is worth rejoicing. Also, let us not forget the the glory of Waspinator.
