Upcoming Comics Spotlight: Horror & Sci-Fi

I thought I would play around with format a bit and make a few of these Spotlights with specific genres. We'll see how that goes and if you guys want me to keep it up that way just let me know!

This installment will feature Horror & Sci-Fi!

You'll see that I'll try to include a little order code with most items (ex:JUL200019). Show some love to your retailer and use those codes when you can, it saves a lot of time on the data entry end of things.

Horror/Supernatural

SCARENTHOOD #1

(W) Nick Roche (A/CA) Nick Roche

TO-DO LIST: Drop kids at preschool/ Grab coffee with other parents/ Go ghost-hunting in woods/ Fight demonic entity/ Collect kids/ Naptime.

With their kids away on a field trip, a group of parents disturbs an ancient evil buried beneath the old Church Hall, unearthing a decades-old mystery about a missing child, and inviting something... hungry into their lives. Suddenly, their mornings go from playdates and peanut allergies, to a battle for the souls of one broken family?-and one child in particular.

What scares you the most: fighting demons, or letting your kids down? Nick Roche (Transformers: The Wreckers Saga, Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows) and Chris O'Halloran (Ice Cream Man) have the answers.

AUG200570

Why this caught my eye:

Nick Roche gets a lot of goodwill from me because of his work with the IDW Transformers series the Wreckers, and this sounds like a fun departure from his usual stuff.

SABRINA MADAME SATAN ONE SHOT #1

(W) Eliot Rahal (A/CA) Julius Ohta

From the world of the hit series CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA comes MADAM SATAN. The Queen of Hell has had enough playing second fiddle to the Devil himself and is ready to take matters into her own hands! Will Madam Satan prove herself to be the most powerful being of the Underworld? Find out in this terrifying one-shot tale!

AUG201169

Why this caught my eye:

Madam Satan was legit one of the creepiest things to come out of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Considering we Sabrina and Afterlife With Archie are always in a state of continual limbo, it's nice to get something finally.

Sci-Fi

PLANET PARADISE GN

(W) Jesse Lonergan (A/CA) Jesse Lonergan

To survive after crash landing on an alien planet, a vacationer must battle against a hostile environment, killer lizards, corporate bureaucracy, and the pessimism of her sole companion, the drug-addled captain of the ship.

AUG200053

Why this caught my eye:

Check out some of Lonergan's art, that should convince you pretty quickly to check this out.

GIGA #1

(W) Alex Paknadel (A) John Le (CA) Adam Gorham

Nobody knows why the skyscraper-sized mechs known as 'Giga' fought their bitter, centuries' long war. All they know is that when the fighting finally stopped, the dormant Giga became humanity's new habitat and new gods in one. When disgraced engineer Evan Calhoun finds an apparently murdered Giga, his society and the fascistic tech-centered religious order that controls it are rapidly thrown into chaos. From writer Alex Paknadel (Friendo, Turncoat, Incursion) and rising star John Le comes another Vault & White Noise partnership about what happens after the mechs stop fighting.

AUG201708

Why this caught my eye:

I mean, I love me some giant robots, and the concept of a society built around the dormant bodies of giant mecha is pretty great.

TRANSFORMERS BACK TO FUTURE #1

(W) Cavan Scott (A/CA) Juan Samu

Great Scott! Marty McFly has just returned from the adventure of a lifetime to a new, better Hill Valley?-everything's looking up for him! That is, until Marty and his friend Doc Brown's time machine attracts the attention of the Decepticons! With one small mistake, Marty finds himself once again thrust into adventure to stop the Decepticon plot in the past, present, and future... all with the help of a new time machine... the Autobot, Gigawatt!

AUG200528

Why this caught my eye:

I'm not going to say that this is going to be good, but c'mon, IDW and Hasbro are fully embracing the ridiculous nature of these crossovers. I mostly just hope that Biff and Starscream team up.

That's it for this batch, the next instalment will focus on LGBTQ+ material!
