Why this caught my eye:
As much as I do like the Fantagraphics EC reprints I also really appreciate the variety we get these days as Dark Horse has done a great job with their EC library as well.
SHORT ORDER CROOKS SC
(W) Christopher Sebela, Jim Gibbons (A/CA) George Kambadais
Rockwell Granger put his misspent life on the line in pursuit of cooking for a living...and it's not going well. In debt to the notorious Bardem Brothers, who control the Portland food cart scene with an iron fist, he struggles to make a profit and fights with the few customers he has. When the Bardems call in his marker and force him to track down a rogue food truck invading their turf, Rock has no choice left but to say yes. Meanwhile, Rock's taco truck has been invaded by his newest (and only) employee, Harper Marbury, who took backseat driving to a new level, replacing his menu with her vegetarian agenda. As Harper polishes her cooking skills, she's thrown into the chaotic food cart underground, helping Rockwell on his morally gray mission for the Bardems. With two jobs on their plate, Rock and Harper will have to learn how to get along, and, even harder, how to cook together, as they navigate a world of food pirates, evil hippies, and irate foodies, before Rock gets 86'd forever.

Why this caught my eye:
I love the focus on the food cart underground scene and the whole pitch just sounds like a lot of fun. Plus hey, most food comics are an instant yes for me anyway.
JAMES BOND AGENT OF SPECTRE HC
(W) Christos Gage (A) Luca Casalanguida (CA) Sean Phillips
There's a civil war brewing within SPECTRE. An upstart American member of the international criminal organization is attempting a coup, threatening to depose Ernst Stavro Blofeld. She's on guard against Blofeld's men, so to take her out, Blofeld recruits a wild card - James Bond! With Blofeld threatening the life of Bond's friend Felix Leiter as leverage, Bond agrees...but he has a plan to use this internal strife to bring SPECTRE down once and for all. Will he succeed, or is this a dark path from which even 007 can't return?
Collecting James Bond: Agent of SPECTRE #1-5.

Why this caught my eye:
I generally don't care too much for Bond stories but I also think that comes down to the attached writers, and I do like Christos Gage so I'm down for giving it a shot.
CHICKEN DEVIL #1
(W) Brian Buccellato (A/CA) Hayden Sherman
Mitchell Moss is about as regular as it gets. He's married with two children, and co-owns a successful chain of Memphis Hot Chicken restaurants. It's not the life that screams hero/vigilante...until he discovers that his business partner is in bed with the mob and owes them $2 million. Unfortunately, Mitch is ill-equipped to be a badass-he's just a guy who makes really good chicken. Can he protect his family from cold-blooded gangsters? Absolutely not. But maybe the CHICKEN DEVIL can...
Writer Brian Buccellato (Detective Comics, The Flash, Witchblade) and artist Hayden Sherman (COLD WAR, MARY SHELLEY MONSTER HUNTER) serve up a darkly comedic crime drama that's juicy, tender and finger-lickin' hilarious.

Why this caught my eye:
To be honest I generally don't care too much for Buccellato's work (it just tends to fall flat for me), but I like that pitch a lot.
NEWBURN #1
(W) Chip Zdarsky, Nadia Shammas (A) Ziyed Yusuf Ayoub (A/CA) Jacob Phillips
EASTON NEWBURN is a private detective without loyalties, investigating conflicts between rival crime factions while collecting enemies along the way. In this DEBUT ISSUE, a man is murdered after stealing from his own mafia family, but they aren't the ones who ordered the hit...
This new ONGOING SERIES from CHIP ZDARSKY (Daredevil) and JACOB PHILLIPS (THAT TEXAS BLOOD) features a riveting backup story, "BROOKLYN ZIRCONIA," by rising stars NADIA SHAMMAS and ZIYED YUSUF AYOUB!

Why this caught my eye:
I have a general rule of always giving Zdarsky projects a shot, plus the preview pages are already engaging.
That's it for this batch, we'll hit some superhero action on the next round!
