Why this caught my eye:

I think I was lamenting the lack of Celtic folklore not too long ago, so hey lookit that turnaround. Also, I'm just glad that Dark Horse is getting a bunch of these Comixology first online comics into print, otherwise I would never know what's actually out there.

Why this caught my eye:

This is a general recommendation to catch up on all the Songs of the Dead material. I just found it to be an engaging and fun fantasy series.

A GUARDIAN VOL 01 COLLECTED EDITION TP

(W) Eastin DeVerna (A/CA) Kay Baird

"High up in the Windy Mountains, there is a tomb. And there are rumors about this tomb." Aylward is the ancient guardian of The Tomb of Livia. When the Northern, Middle, and Southern kingdoms of the Great Sphere plunge into a three-pronged war once again, events are set in motion that will trigger the beginning of the End Times, and Aylward will soon find that the fate of the realm is a heavy weight to bear, indeed.

Collects A. Guardian Vol. 1 #1-3 plus a bonus story exclusive to this collection! JAN231873

Why this caught my eye:

The Kickstarter caught my eye a while back, and I really like Baird's art.

SEASONS HAVE TEETH #1

(W) Dan Watters (A) Sebastian Cabrol (CA) Qistina Khalidah

In a drab, colorless world, the seasons bring change... and also destruction.

Andrew, a retired conflict photographer, lives a life steeped in regret after an unthinkable tragedy, but everything shifts when the seasons arrive-each one a personified, god-like creature.

As he risks everything to track down Spring, Summer, AutumnFall, and Winter, will capturing the perfect picture of each be enough to find redemption... and ultimately bring color back to his world?

Dan Watters of Sword of Azrael and Home Sick Pilots writing acclaim is joined by artist Sebastian Cabrol (Anthony Bourdain's Hungry Ghosts, Maestro: World War M) for a tale that is both down to earth and supernaturally apocalyptic in its pertinence.

Why this caught my eye:

Really like that premise, and Cabrol's art in the previews is looking good.

MONKEY KING COMP ODYSSEY GN

(W) Chaiko (A/CA) Chaiko

A vibrant retelling of the legendary Chinese saga Journey to the West by artist/animator Chaiko, who brings his unique visual style and humor to this ageless fantasy adventure. A monkey is born from a stone struck by lightning and acquires supernatural abilities which he uses for mischief and glory. But soon he finds himself at the ire of the Heavens and imprisoned by the Buddha himself. To redeem himself, he is tasked with a quest to protect a monk on a great journey filled with danger and adventure.

Why this caught my eye:

I really wanted to move on the Kickstarter, but I gotta take it easy on that magnetic Press stuff.

That's it for this batch, we'll hit up some non-fiction on the next round!
